Growing Iowa’s Economy

Creating High-Quality Jobs, Funding Local Priorities, Protecting Iowa Taxpayers

The development of new data centers is critical to Iowa’s future — bringing new tax revenue, good-paying jobs, and a more modern energy grid to communities across the state.

The development of new data centers is critical to Iowa’s future. These investments will:

  • Provide hundreds of millions of dollars in new property taxes to fund local schools, hospitals, roads, public safety, and more – and help local governments cut taxes for Iowans.
  • Support meaningful, long-term economic growth in communities across Iowa.
  • Create good paying jobs with good benefits both during construction and once the facility is operating
  • Enhance the state’s energy infrastructure, creating faster fiber networks and a more modern, reliable electric grid

And the development of data centers will protect Iowa families and businesses.

  • Data centers should pay for the energy they use and any necessary upgrades to our energy grid – not Iowa families or other Iowa businesses.
  • Iowans deserve a voice in major energy infrastructure decisions. Continued Iowa Utilities Commission review of regulated utilities helps ensure transparency, accountability, public input, and affordable rates for all customers.
  • New development should reflect Iowa values by being a responsible community partner, minimizing local impacts, supporting environmental stewardship and respecting the quality of life of the communities where it operates.
